Andrew slept like seven hours last night from 730pm to 230am and couldn't go back to sleep no matter what we tried. Luckily, his cough wasn't as persistent; and he seemed to be coming over the hill and on the road to recovery. As for us, James and I took turns with Andrew while the other slept a little bit between the hours of 230am and 7am until we went down for breakfast.
It was actually raining this morning, but I checked the weather forecast, which stated it would clear up around 11am. So at breakfast, we talked about doing something for a couple of hours and definitely indoors to keep Andrew out of the elements as it was still going to be cold. I wanted to mainly get out of the hotel and also wear Andrew down a little bit to make sure he would take a nap later today.
We finally decided on heading towards the Gangnam-gu district--yes, just like the K-pop song. I read about a huge indoor mall there called the COEX Mall that had a variety of shops and even a hotel employee thought it would be good for us. There are lots of different shopping areas here in Seoul, but some are very specialized. There is one for clothing, another for technology items, and another for art. But we were looking for some souvenir type items and again, wanted something indoors for Andrew.
The mall was crazy big and had lots of shops. We were all a little lost since we weren't familiar with the mall, but walked around and shopped a little. We ended up eating at a Chinese restaurant that served some dim sum for Andrew. Not too bad considering it was a random find.
After we ate, we walked around a little more, but I suggested we walk back up to the street level and visit the Bongeunsa Temple, which I had also read that it was the nicest Buddhist temple in Seoul.
We didn't want to stay too long, but quickly visited the grounds and pay our respects. It was very beautiful and amazing. Andrew, of course, wanted to take pictures of the flowers and waterfalls. He would even directed Ngoai where to stay. It was pretty humorous.
It was a good morning and we enjoyed our visit to Gangnam-gu. More importantly, I am glad Andrew is feeling better and that we got to get out a little more. I have to admit I was dissapointed about losing a day yesterday not getting to go around the city, but it was much important for us to not push Andrew and let him rest. I am glad we did because he does seem to be on the mend.
