Wonderland in Westchase

This evening, we picked up Daddy at work and headed to the Wonderland in Westchase. The event, which was held at the First Methodist Church on the westside of Houston, was set to start at 5:30pm. We arrived at just a little before then, but the parking lot was getting crowded already.

We entered the grounds and there were already a considerable number of people who were already there. I guess they must have opened the doors a little early. I told Daddy I wanted to head straight to the fire truck ride before the line got too long. It was already about twenty people long and we had to wait one trip, but it was totally worth the wait. At first, Andrew was hesitant about riding it, but quickly came around. And during the ride, he was totally into it looking around and saying "fire truck" over and over again. He even said "wheeeee" when we made a turn. He also had fun singing along to some Christmas carols some of the volunteers sang for us.

After the ride, our friends Jenny and Palmer had arrived so they met us over by the fire truck. We asked Palmer if he wanted to ride the fire truck (I know Andrew would have rode again), but he declined. He instead said he wanted to go through one of the bouncing inflatables. The boys went through an obstacle course one and did great going through by themselves.

The boys then said they wanted to ride the train next so we walked towards its designated area. On the way over there, we passed by the hayride and it was already parked waiting for rides to board. We decided immediately to hop on board. Both boys loved seeing the tractor pull us.

After, we continued walking towards the train. When we came upon it, we noticed a little bit of a line. So, Daddy got in line while Jenny and I took the boys to play in the fake snow for a little bit. Andrew again wasn't sure what to make of the snow (ice), but as he watched Palmer and the other kids, he became bolder and bolder. Unfortunately, some of the older kids were throwing snowballs and Andrew wanted to emulate them, but I told him he can throw the snowballs at the ground only and not as people. And he listened thankfully.

Daddy made it to the start of the line pretty quickly and tried to call me, but I didn't answer my phone fast enough. So, he got out of line to get us and told us that it goes fairly fast. So, we walked back over and I stood in line while Daddy and Jenny took the boys to get their face painted (we are all about trying to be efficient in doing whatever we can to minimize wait time for the kids). Andrew chose a snowman while Palmer opted for a candy cane; and both very cute!

By the time they walked back over to me in line, it was just about our turn to get on the train. The boys enjoyed their train ride of course and we even ran into one of the mom's whose son was in the Nativity chapel production (this kid was so good with his voice projection and was so funny!)

Next, we walked over to the concession stands to grab some dinner before it got too much later. Luckily for us, they had Chick Fil A sandwiches, sausages, and pizza which Andrew, Daddy, and I each ordered respectively. The pizza was a little thin so Andrew was more interested in eating what Daddy and Mommy had ordered, which was fine with us so long as he's eating something.

After we ate, we walked back to the other area and found the fire truck line to be long as well as most of the other moonbounces. But the one the boys had already done didn't have too long of a wait so we let them go back in. Next, we stood in line for cookies and hot chocolate. The boys loved the marshmallows!!! We even had to ask the servers for seconds!

We decided to call it a night after the boys finished eating and drinking. The lines were rather long and we had pretty much done what we wanted. The boys seemed content; and it was nearing bed time anyhow. We had a great time and loved having Jenny and Palmer there to partake in the fun!
