Forty Acres

This morning, we took Andrew down to the campus of the University of Texas. Andrew has been really into all things Texas especially with reading some of his Longhorn books, especially Hello Hook 'em and Born to Be a Longhorn.

After parking, we walked down to Memorial Stadium and walked around for a little bit. We tried to show Andrew some trophies, but only saw a few (the trophy room was on the other side of the stadium and neither of us felt like walking that far). We also saw retired Lady Longhorns basketball coach Jody Conradt in the hallways, but I wasn't fast enough to get out my camera! :(

Of course, Andrew had spotted the campus buses driving around and asked us to ride one, which we thought was a great idea. And of course, we wanted to ride on the Forty Acres route so we waited for one and hopped on. We made one whole loop around the school pointing out various landmarks to Andrew. I think he was more excited about riding the bus to be honest.

After we got off the bus, we walked to Littlefield Fountain and the Tower. Andrew just had fun running around on the "mall" and checking out all the people. We walked over to West Mall and since it was so close to University Coop, I thought I would do a little shopping. After a while, Daddy headed to Dobie Mall to grab one of our favorite smoothies from The Chippery while I finished shopping and checked out. Then, we walked back to the car and headed back to Uncle Foo's house. Then, we finished the day with a family dinner with Granddad, Uncle John, Aunt Sharon, Kathryn, and Uncle Foo (Peter was at a sleepover).

It was nice getting to show Andrew around our old stomping grounds. It brought back a lot of memories for Daddy and me. And I hope this was just the first of many memories Andrew will have on campus! ;)
