We had a pretty busy morning. I had received an email from the Houston Museum of Natural Science telling people of their upcoming event, Snow Flurry. The museum was going to bring in 80,000 lbs of snow for kids to play in (for fifteen minutes time intervals). It sounded pretty interested and I thought Andrew might enjoy it. We waited too long to buy our tickets and come Saturday morning, the earliest spot open was for noon. I didn't want to do it in the afternoon for fear the snow would be slush by then.
But this actually worked out to Andrew's benefit. One other activity we were pondering was the Lowe's Build and Grow Clinic at 10am. Today's clinic was to build a caboose (next weekend is the passenger car and the weekend after is the engine). I wasn't sure how much Andrew would enjoy it and if he was old enough to do it. But Daddy said it was worth a try. So, off the boys went for a little male bonding while Mommy stayed home to clean the house.
The boys came back a little after 11am. Andrew was so excited not only with his train, but his apron that they gave out as well. He didn't want to take it off!! We played for a bit until it was time to head to the museum, but first, we stopped by McDonalds for a Happy Meal for Andrew.
We arrived at the museum just before noon; and I headed straight in to pick up our tickets while I told Daddy and Andrew to get in line, which was already pretty long. The museum actually had two areas of snow--one for kids under five and another for kids over five. Adults were allowed in the little kid snow area, but were only allowed to stand in case their kid needed help...they weren't allowed to play with the snow. I retreated to the side to take pictures.
And just as I thought, the snow was already melting and was more like ice. And the area right outside the snow was pretty wet and muddy. Sure enough, when Andrew was walking towards the ice, he slipped in the mud! He was tentative at first, but then started to try to walk and run on the snow. He fell so many times, but he wasn't complaining. He just kept going and going. Before we knew it, our fifteen minutes were up and it was time to exit the snow area. Of course, Andrew kept asking for two more minutes! Ha ha!
Afterwards, we went back into the museum and looked at all the Christmas trees they had put up. Andrew was very interested in all the ornaments. And we also saw Grimace and Hamburglar from McDonalds. We asked Andrew if he wanted to meet them and take pictures with them, to which he quickly said yes.
Then, we walked back outside to go home, but stopped by a few tables where they had some craft projects for the kids. First, he colored a bookmark--of course he drew a train on it. The other two projects we took home to complete it after nap since it was getting late for his nap.
I thought Andrew would have been dog tired from all the fun this morning, but he fought his nap and didn't end up falling asleep until 2pm!! That's our little punk!
The first two pictures were sent from Daddy's phone. I so love the goggles! And I know the video from the Snow Flurry isn't that great. It was kind of hard to get good pictures more or less good videos.
