Saturday in the Big D

We drove up to Dallas late last night to visit since David is finishing medical school there and about to move back to Houston. Andrew woke up as we exited for Uncle David's and Aunt Dina's. I think Andrew was excited about seeing their dog, Mya, the most. He was really good with her and she was excellent with him. We finally got him settled back down and back to sleep for the night.

When Andrew woke up this morning, he immediately wanted Mya again. We all woke up and got dressed for breakfast with Dina and my cousin, Albert, who was on his way over. David had already left for the hospital for rounds, but hopefully, wouldn't be too long.

We went to a nearby taco place and sat outside. Andrew loved getting to watch all the vehicles go by. We headed home and got ready for the water park. David still wasn't done at the hospital so he said he would meet us there. We were headed to Hawaiian Falls for Wags and Waves, which is a charity event to raise money for the Metroxplex Animal Coalition. It was cool because they opened the waterpark to the dogs.

First, upon entering the park, we walked to Happy Harbors. Andrew was a little tentative at first, but got acclimated quickly. I took him around a little so Daddy and Albert could go ride the Pineapple Express. When they got back, we switched and Dina and I went to go ride it. It was good, but I got a lot of water in my face!!

Then, David arrived. So we headed to the lazy river so Mya could join in the fun. Andrew wasn't too sure about sitting in the tube, but came around very quickly. And then he was totally into riding the tubes and sat very nicely. Poor Mya wasn't so sure about it so she took a lap swimming and then we were able to get her into the tube. We went around a few times and Andrew kept asking for more laps.

After the lazy river, we started to make our way headed for the wave pool, another area where dogs could go. But first, we stopped at a ride called the Half Pipe. Albert and I went down first. It was really steep and a little scary. I was wondering if our tube was going to flip over, but it didn't thankfully. James had walked off with Andrew so he wouldn't get upset seeing me on the ride. They weren't back yet so David went on the ride with Albert. And then, they returned so Daddy went with David.

We reached the wave pool and walked in. There were lots of dogs there already all so cute. Andrew saw a few people with tubes and said he wanted one too. So, Daddy and Andrew went to get one. Andrew didn't stay in it for too long though. He wanted out and then wanted to jump the waves by himself. We stayed there for quite a while, but of course, Andrew grew weary of it and said "all done."

James and I said we were going over to the pool with the mushrooms and check it out. David, Dina, and Albert said they would come with us. But then, we saw the ride, the Torpedo, was actually open (they had said that it wouldn't be). So, Daddy and David went to go ride it. Daddy said it was very good.

We made our way to the mushroom pool. Andrew was okay with it liking the waterfall, but not too interested. He soon said he wanted to go back to the waterpark meaning the Happy Harbors. David, Dina, and Albert headed back to the lazy river instead since Mya wasn't allowed in Happy Harbors. Andrew played for a little while and went down some more slides. But then, he said he wanted to see Uncle David and the others again. So, we walked over there to find them. We all went around a few times, but Mya was done going around and just wanted to play with the other dogs. So, we just hung out in the front part of the lazy river and played there. Mya was so cute and friendly with everyone and every dog. She's such a sweet girl!

We finally made our way out of the park and got to our car. As we waited for David in his car, Andrew fell asleep in the parking lot. On the way home, we stopped for Raising Cain's chicken and headed home to eat and rest.

Soon, it was time to go to Aunt Hoa's for dinner. Andrew played with foosball table and his Thomas trains. He was growing tired of them so we took him for a walk around the neighborhood. After we got back, he played a little bit more, but was getting bored again. So, I asked Albert for cars thinking he might have a few. But he remembered he might have some in his closet. Sure enough, he had this big plastic bin full of all kinds and sizes of cars. We had hit the jackpot. Andrew was giddy! We grabbed a few of them and he went along playing merrily.

Then, it was dinnertime and we ate some delicious banh xeo Uncle Quang made and some other things they had gotten. It was all so yummy! We were stuffed! After dinner, we hung around and watched some football including our Horns. It was getting late so we decided it was about time to head back to David's. He started to have a runny nose so we wanted to make sure Andrew got plenty of rest. Sure enough, Andrew conked out in the car and was out for the night. The adults stayed up a little while longer to watch some more football. Now, it's time to hit the sack and get some rest before another fun day in Dallas!

**Note: Some of the pictures (starting with the fourth one and until the pictures back at the condo) aren't as sharp as they were shot with one of those disposable water cameras. I have to say that I am not too thrilled with the way they came out. No wonder I don't use disposable cameras anymore.
