Many communities were having Fourth of July celebrations today, but with rain forecasted, we weren't sure if we would be able to participate in one of them (I was debating between two pools). But fortunately, the weather held up and we wanted to venture off to do something fun with Andrew. Uncle Anh Tuan had driven in this morning; and he was game to join us.
After a quick discussion with Aunt Linda, we decided to meet the Armstrongs at West University's newly renovated Colonial Park Pool. We had actually come here before with Thomas last year. Boy, had the place changed. It had been a big pool and a kiddie pool. It was nice, but this remodeled pool is way awesome! It has all these water features including lots of slides, fountains, a big play structure, a lily pad, and a rock wall. And as an added bonus, much of the pool is shaded.
Andrew walked right into the water and climbed on the play structure, but was hesitant to go down any of the slides. But he finally acclimated and went down all of the smaller ones a few times each. He liked the two blue slides next to each other the most; and ,of course, he wanted us to go down with him. We tried to get him to go on the bigger tunnel slide--he wanted nothing to do with it. But then, after he finally relented, Daddy took him to ride it, but Andrew ended up not liking it very much because he took in a lot of water when he landed. Poor kid doesn't know better to close his mouth yet. He spent most of the time climbing and playing with the water sprouts. Drew also liked walking in the water around the pool just exploring.
Andrew and Max had fun together as they always do. Rush, who is getting so much bigger, spent most of the time sleeping. He's such a good baby!! And it was nice to get to hang with Uncle Ryan and Aunt Linda of course. And we had a surprise visitor at the pool. Cousin David had texted me that he was also in town for the weekend and came up to the pool to hang out with us for a little bit.
It sprinkled on and off, but for the most part, it ended up being a nice day to be at the pool. Not too hot thankfully! Afterwards, we grabbed some lunch and then headed back to the house to watch the World Cup 3rd place game with Uncle Anh Tuan and David.
Anyways, Andrew had a great time and said he wants to go back too. We can definitely oblige him on this request. Thanks to the Armstrongs for inviting us to come with them!
