Happy Independence Day

Since Uncle Anh Tuan had spent yesterday in Houston with us, we all headed down to League City to spend the Fourth of July with Ngoai and Papa. Andrew said he wanted to go to the pool and we hadn't anything planned so we (Daddy, Mommy, Ngoai, and Andrew) got ready and drove over. Uncle Anh Tuan and Papa stayed home as they were tired and had a swollen foot respectively. Andrew did great in the pool. He is getting even more comfortable in the water and readily goes onto the steps in the big pool. We had a good time. But soon, it was getting rather hot so we headed back home for lunch and naps. For dinner, Ngoai and Papa made ribs, which Andrew loves. Then, we had a belated birthday celebration for Papa. And Papa was kind enough to let Andrew blow out the candles.

After, we drove back to Houston and stopped by a shopping strip nearto our house. A few cars were already parked so we figured that people knew they could see the fireworks from there. We first saw a smaller fireworks show at a nearby country club (so we were told). Andrew liked them, but the fireworks didn't hold his attention for too long and I think he was getting tired. But fortunately, the big Houston firework show finally started shortly afterwards. Andrew watched and was more interested in this one maybe because of the size and frequency of the fireworks. They even had some cool fireworks that Daddy and Mommy had never seen before. There were ones shaped like smiley faces and then others that were shaped like a planet with a ring around it. It was pretty cool. Mommy is a sucker for fireworks so I enjoyed it. Even though he was enjoying it, exhaustion kicked in and Andrew was getting really tired. So luckily, the show was close to ending and we headed back to the car to drive home. Andrew fell asleep as we were putting him in bed. Perfect timing!

We had a great day celebrating our country's freedom!! Happy Independence Day, everyone. God Bless America!!
