Tonight, we took Andrew and Aunt Monica to the Astros vs. Cubs game tonight. We hadn't been back to Minute Maid Park since last year so we thought it was fine time to head back there. First, we love the Cubs too. And second, we got really cheap tickets--$1. They were nose bleed tickets, but it was so empty that we sat down by first base without any problems.
Andrew couldn't keep his eyes and mind off the train. He kept wanting it to whistle and go, but unfortunately, the Stros didn't hit any homers for us. Andrew was very disappointed. But we tried to keep him interested in the game as much as we could. When Andrew got a little antsy, Daddy took him on a walk around. And later, Monica and I got him ice cream and cotton candy.
It was the sixth inning that we decided to call it a night so we could get Andrew to bed. As we walked out of the ballpark, we decided to wait for the seventh inning stretch so we could sing the songs with Andrew. He enjoyed both Take Me Out to the Ballgame, which we play at home and Deep in the Heart of Texas, which he liked the clapping parts.
We put Andrew to bed without any problems. And I just saw online that the Astros won the game...Berkman hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh!! What incredible timing! I am pretty bummed, but I guess there is nothing I can do about it now. And it was already getting too late. We couldn't have waited much longer. So, hopefully, next time Andrew will get to see some train action and maybe even some fireworks.
