We finally made it back to the Bellaire Aquatic Center today. I didn't want to take him until he was comfortable back in the water and we just hadn't had the chance to yet.
Right after we arrived, I saw Palmer and his dad, Devin, and went to say hi. We hadn't seen Palmer in such a long time that it was a really nice surprise. Palmer and Andrew played together for a bit, but as kids do, they ventured off in different directions to do what they each wanted to do. Then, they would play together for a bit and then go off again.
Andrew was having fun with all the water features. He even tried to walk to the big slide to ride it. We had to explain to him that it was for big kids and adults who know how to swim by himself. He seemed okay with our reasoning and left it at that. But he did ride the frog slide by himself more than a few times and even tried going down on his stomach after watching Palmer do it.
We wanted to get some lunch and go home for naps, but Andrew didn't want to leave of course. We said that maybe we could come back after nap if we had time, which helped getting him to leave without any hysterics. And we also told him we were going to Chick Fil A, which helped ease the blow too.
When he woke up, we asked him what he wanted to do; and of course, he said he wanted to go back to the "water park." So, we ended up taking him back for a little while. Drew had a great time again. He totally loves the water!! Though, this time around, we couldn't get him off the snow cones. He had seen the trailer in the morning, but it hadn't opened yet. But now, there was pretty much no way around it. He was so persistent about getting one. So, we got him right before we left the pool because we knew that would be another battle in itself. Little victories...sometimes, we got to take what we can get.
