We just ended a few days of having Cousin Thomas visit us for a few days. Daddy picked Tom up at the airport Wednesday night while Mommy stayed home to put Andrew to bed. We didn't do much that night, but watch some television.
Thursday morning, we headed to the Houston Museum of Natural Science to see the Genghis Khan exhibit. It was good, but not great. They had some great artifacts, but the exhibit was rather small and to be honest, I had hoped for more military relics for Thomas. And even more so, Andrew wasn't too into it--he was much more into the ducks that he was so into last time. After the museum, we met Daddy at the Korean barbeque restaurant close to Daddy's work since Thomas really liked it last time. After lunch, we went back home so Andrew could take a nap. Mommy took one too while Thomas read and watched television. Then, we met James at Gymboree for open play. Andrew had a ball having his daddy and cousin there. After Gymboree, we got some dinner at Star Pizza. Andrew ate up the garlic bread with cheese and pizza. After Andrew went down for the night, we started watching the movie Twilight, but we didn't finish it as both boys got sleepy.
On Friday, we got a late start heading to Dave & Busters to play some games before lunch. Thomas won two chains in the crane game and won a lot of tickets on other games. Andrew loved looking at the lights and pressing buttons. I let him pretend drive on a racing game, which he loved! After turning in our tickets, Thomas picked out a t-shirt for himself and Andrew picked out a hacky sack. Then, we went to Wings 'N More where James met us for lunch. After eating, we headed to the door, but to our surprise, it was pouring down cats and dogs. It had already started raining some earlier in the day, but it was now some monsoon rain!! Poor James in his work clothes (thankfully it is business casual on Friday and not him in a suit) had to make a run for it. Thomas, Andrew, and I tried to wait it out. The rain subsided a bit, but did not let up enough to our dismay. It was already 2pm; and I didn't want to wait forever for the rain to stop postponing Andrew's nap even more. Thomas even joked that we should have just run to the movie theatre and wait out the rain there. I wish!! I can't wait for Andrew to be able to sit through a movie. But anyway, we made a run for it and stopped while we were still underneath this plastic roof thing they have there. It was not rain proof, but it afforded us some shelter. Then, I ran out to the car leaving Andrew with Thomas. Tom told me that Andrew started asking for me and then cried a bit. Poor Andrew was tired, wet, and cold--why wouldn't he freak when he saw me run off (especially having seen his Daddy run off not ten minutes prior to). I also felt bad for leaving Tom alone with a crying baby. So, we were pretty much all drenched on the drive home. Andrew conked out in the car. After his nap, we headed to Borders to get some books for him and Thomas. Then, it was back home to start dinner...steaks and corn on the cob. Afterwards, we finished up Twilight and then headed to bed.
Saturday morning, Daddy made breakfast for us all. We suggested a few things to do on our last day, but what Thomas really wanted to do was go back to Dave and Busters and play more games. So, we obliged. What's funny is that we even went back to the wing place because Tom said he liked it so much. What's even more funny (or sad) is that we had the same waitress. After Andrew took his nap, we went to the West University pool for some swimming. It was a great day; and the boys had fun in the pool. Then, it was time to go home so that Thomas could pack and get ready to head to the airport. James took him while Andrew and I got ready for another visitor, Uncle Jason--one of Daddy's friend from high school who Mommy met at UT.
We had a great time with Thomas and loved having him here. Andrew absolutely adores Thomas and with good reason as Thomas is so good with him. Thomas, thanks for coming to hang with us and playing with and being so sweet to Andrew! We love you so much!! We miss you already!
