The Zoo (Yes, Again)

Daddy wanted to get Andrew out of the house this morning and take him somewhere, which is very typical with our weekends. James is not a big fan that the Children's Museum doesn't open until 10am so he wanted to take Andrew back to the zoo (yes, again!) But thankfully, Andrew loves the zoo and doesn't seem to mind when we go--he still seems to love it actually. When we told him this morning we were going to the zoo, he did his impersonation of an elephant. Normally, Mommy tells him we are going to the zoo and are going to see the elephants and lions (his favorites probably--or just the ones that he brings up the most). And secondly, the zoo is big enough that we can see different animals so it isn't always the same things that Andrew sees.

So, this morning, we took a different path around the zoo to change it up a bit from our regular routines. But we did take Daddy to the Children's Zoo, which is this section of the zoo dedicated to little kids. This is where the carousel, playground, and petting zoo are located. This was Daddy's first time to actually go in there. We asked Andrew if he wanted to ride the carousel to which he wagged his finger.  Hmm, I guess that would be a "no" then. Andrew headed straight for the petting zoo so we let him go back in. Since he has been able to see the goats live, he has been able to make the association to pictures and has learned "ma" for the sounds they make. Andrew did very well petting and brushing the goats. Afterwards, we walked around a bit and saw some different animals that Mommy didn't even know were in this area.  Mommy just visits the three things mentioned previously and would then leave. But I am so glad we ventured off. We saw some ducks that Andrew was able to feed and some turtles swimming in the water--two animals that Andrew loves.

Afterwards, we walked by the zebra housing and made sure to show Andrew the zebras. I am trying to get him to say "zee" or "neigh" for zebras, but to no avail as of yet. I know he recognizes them. We will just have to keep working on it. Then, we took Daddy by the sea lion pool.  I love that Andrew just focused on the lion part of their name when I first showed him the sea lions and will say "roar" for them too. But that's why they were named sea lions, right? Next, we went over to the aquarium so that Andrew can see the fish and so that we could cool off a bit. It was sure hot outside already!

I love the weekends as it means more Daddy time.  And Andrew loves it too--probably more than Mommy does. And I especially love our outings with Daddy. I get to do all these things with Andrew while Daddy is at work so I am so happy when my boys get to spend some quality time together and they get to experience all these great things together. So even though we had just gone to the zoo a few days before, I know this was extra special for my favorite two guys (well, it was to Mommy at least!)
