Saturday in Austin

We drove up to Austin this weekend to spend some time with family--Uncle Anh Tuan, Granddad, and especially Uncle Johnny and his family. We hadn't seen them for a long while (maybe Christmas) as they were out of town our last trip to Austin and Uncle Johnny was studying for a test just like Daddy. So, it was long overdue

We woke up Saturday morning and Andrew proceeded to wake up Uncle Anh Tuan. I told him that Uncle was still sleeping and not to wake him up, but that didn't stop Andrew. He proceeded to barge through Uncle's bedroom door and look for him. It was funny because Andrew didn't see Anh Tuan initially because he was wrapped up and covered in the blanket. Anh Tuan was sweet waking up and played trains and trucks with Andrew while we got ready. Anh Tuan also introduced us to his new pet turtle named Squirt after the Crush's son in Finding Nemo. Andrew was totally into Squirt and would keep wanting to look at him.

Then, we got in the car and drove to Round Rock Donuts, which came highly recommended from some of our friends. It was crazy packed especially the drive thru line so we parked and went inside. Thankfully, the line wasn't as long and went really fast. I was told to eat them while they were hot so I had to have one in the car on the way to John's. It was really good, but I have to say it wasn't as good as Shipley's though.

We arrived at Uncle John's and shortly thereafter Nonna did too who drove up to spend the day with us. We sat down to eat the doughnuts, but Andrew wasn't interested in the donuts. He just wanted to go upstairs and play. We managed to get him to eat in between all the playing. Peter and Kathryn were both very sweet to Andrew again and played really nicely with him.

Later, we got ready to go swimming at nearby neighborhood pool. The pool was very kid friendly with a mushroom and slide. It was a little chilly, but it didn't bother the kids too much. Andrew had a great time there with everyone. He went down the slide with Daddy, but Daddy wasn't able to go very fast (some of it on purpose because he didn't know how fast the slide was going to be). So, Aunt Sharon took him down next. He liked it, but not that much to go down again. He was content going to the shallow end of the pool and walking and swimming around.

The kids got hungry and had some snacks during the lifeguard's break. They went back in the pool for a little while longer, but then it was time for lunch. We drove over to Chick Fil A, a favorite amongst the kids. Of course, we couldn't go there without playing in the playground. After lunch, it was time to head back to Foo's house for naps.

After Andrew took a two hour nap, we headed to dinner with the family at Ho Ho Chinese Restaurant, a place where Uncle Anh Tuan had introduced to us on one of our other trips to Austin. Andrew was more interested in playing with Peter and Kathryn and the fish tank than eating. But he ended up eating a decent amount of noodles, shrimp, and Peking Duck buns. Uncle Anh Tuan, who had a Fantasy Football draft, came after his draft finished.

Then after dinner, we headed back to Uncle Foo's house for the night. Uncle John also came over to watch some football with us and hang out for a little while longer. I put Andrew to bed rather easily. It was a fun day and little man was pretty worn out!
