Earlier today, Andrew and I attended the 23rd Annual Wortham Theater Center Tree Lighting Ceremony in Downtown. I had seen a little announcement for it and thought it might be fun for Andrew since he's so big into Christmas this year already. And luckily for us, Jenny and Palmer were able to join in the fun too.
First, we walked to the Wortham Center. We looked around and took in the sights and sounds. Soon thereafter, it was noon and time for the tree lighting ceremony. Santa along with some characters from The Nutcracker came onto the stage for the big event. The Sugar Plum Fairy did the honors and the tree was spectacular. Afterwards, many of the characters walked around the foyer and posed for pictures. Andrew and Palmer wanted to take a picture with one of the toy soldiers. Neither one wanted to take one with any of the princesses though we weren't sure why. And lastly, the boys ended up the most excited about meeting one of the mice.
After we grabbed a little snack and drink, we took the boys to see the tree up close in hopes of getting some cute pictures. Neither wanted to sit for very long of course. They both wanted to walk around and also see the huge gingerbread house they had on display.
Then, we walked over to Jones Plaza for some more festivities. We got some lunch and ate at one of the tables. The boys ate well, but were still so intrigued by everything going on. We caught the end of a small parade led by Santa and some of the Nutcracker characters. Then, we went to stand in line to see Santa. The boys were cute about standing in line. They did a pretty good job waiting their turn. Palmer hopped right into Santa's lap and asked for a guitar and cupcake. Next, it was Andrew's turn. He just leapt into Santa's lap too and asked for a GeoTrax train. He also gave Santa a hug. ;) And unfortunately, neither boy wanted to see or take pictures with the Grinch, which I understand seeing how I could see where they might be afraid of him. By then, it was after 130pm so we walked back to the car to head home. Andrew fell asleep about ten minutes later. He was sacked out!!
