Kailee's 4th Birthday Party

We arrived at Kailee's cowgirl party a little late from the train show, but Andrew wasted no time getting right into things when we arrived. He started playing in the sand box and plastic swimming pool that Aunt Michelle had filled up with sand as well. She also hid pennies so the kids could "pan for gold". All the little ones were having fun searching for the treasure! Andrew was so happy when he found a few of them.

Then, the pony rides started. At first, Andrew said he wanted to ride, but when it was his turn, he said no. We asked him again if he wanted to ride one; and again, he said no. But then like a minute later, he said he wanted to ride. So, when a pony came back, we put him on and off we went. Andrew did very well sitting on the pony and held on the saddle with one hand while holding either Daddy's or my hand with the other. He was a little scared to only hold onto just the saddle. After the ride, he said he wanted to ride the pony again so we got back into line and he went for a second as well as his third ride.

Then, we coaxed him to take a little break from the ponies and to go back to playing at the sandbox. Later, we ventured inside to play blocks and trains with Evan and some other kids so we could grab a bite to eat. Eric and Michelle served up delicious barbeque and all the fixins; Andrew ate some sausage and lots of cornbread!

Soon, it was time for the pinata. Andrew stood in line well waiting patiently and hit the pinata decently. And when the pinata broke open, I told him to run and get some candy. He took off and grabbed a good couple of handfuls of candy. And when I told him it was enough and to let the other kids get some candy, he complied without complaint. Then, he returned back to the sandbox.

Then, it was last call for the pony rides so we took Andrew back out to ride one last time. Sure enough, after his ride, he asked for another. There wasn't anyone else in line so he went again. And each time he rode, he became braver and braver. By the last time, he pushed my hand away and held onto the saddle with both hands.

After the pony rides, Andrew went back to play again in the sandbox and inside while Daddy and Mommy tried to watch some of the Texas-Nebraska game. It was pretty late by then and we needed to get Andrew home for his nap. Of course, he didn't want to go home, but didn't put up too much a fight thankfully. He was so tired that he fell asleep not even five minutes into the car ride home!

We watched the rest of the game while Andrew napped. He ended up waking up towards the end of the game so was able to watch the Horns pull out the win! It was a great ending to a great fun-filled day!!

Happy 4th Birthday, Kailee! Thanks for allowing us to come to your awesome party!
