Andrew woke up this morning at 8am, which is a little late for his standards. We got ready and went out to grab some breakfast tacos. Then, we headed to the Big Texas Train Show at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Downtown. We had told Andrew that we were going to take him there for the past week; and he was totally stoked about it.
We entered the show; and immediately Andrew saw some F-scaled trains going around a huge set up. He had to go see them up close. Andrew looked so entralled with all the trains zooming around the tracks. Then, we walked to some more booths and more model train sets including some smaller Z-scaled trains. I had never seen model trains so small! They were too cute!
Then, Anh called to say they were inside at the same F scale that we had seen when we walked in. Josh had quickly spotten it too and was hooked like Andrew was. We walked back over there to find them. Andrew and Josh immediately hugged each other. We stayed a bit longer to watch and then told the boys that there were other things to see. We walked around and looked at more model train sets as well as other vendors were selling all kinds of train items.
Shortly thereafter, Daddy spotted a train ride where the kids can lift a bar up and down in order to propel the train car. I wasn't sure if Andrew would be able to create enough force to move the train. But fortunately, the other (older) kids would move their cars fast enough to push the other (younger and slower) kids' cars. At first, Andrew wanted to go on the ride, but Josh didn't. Then, Josh wanted to go on the ride, but Andrew didn't. These kids, I tell you! Ha ha! But finally, both of them decided that they wanted to go and we got in line. Andrew sat very well on the car and did all right with moving the bar up and down; and Josh did well too. But there was no question that Andrew was mainly was being pushed by an older kid in the car behind him.
After the ride, the boys wanted to play in the toddler area where they had lots of train toys including a few train tracks. There were lots of other little kids there too so the boys had to wait to play with the wooden trains, but they did a good job waiting for their turn.
We walked around some more seeing more model trains and more vendors. And sure enough, the boys made their way back to the first F-scale train set up that we saw when we came into the show. They wanted to watch those trains some more so we let them. Then, we had to say our goodbyes as we had Kailee's birthday party to attend. Andrew didn't want to leave the train show and kept saying he wanted to go back. So, it's safe to say that he enjoyed it.
