Today, we were invited to Quinn's third birthday party. Andrew and Quinn know each other back from the Gymboree days. First, we all went to the same class, but later, we would just Quinn and his family at open gym. The boys immediately liked one another and would play together a lot. Quinn's parents, Carolyn and Michael, have always been very nice so we would talk to them quite a bit too while the boys were playing.
The party was held at Wonderwild. I had been meaning to take Andrew there for the longest time, but had been procrastinating. I knew they had self-propelled trains and I wasn't sure if Andrew would be able to do it by himself. And then a few months ago, a friend told me that Andrew would definitely be able to do it, but I just hadn't had an opportunity to go. So, this was a great way to get to try the place out.
When we first arrived, Andrew immediately saw Quinn and went over to give him a hug and wish him "Happy Birthday!" And then he was off like a shot to go play! It took no time at all for Andrew to see the train and wanted to go on it. He was a little slow at first rolling the handles, but quickly got the hang of it. I told James that we should get one of these so he could use it for exercise and to burn some of his energy!!
Drew also had a great time with all the fun activities they have. He had a blast jumping on the jumping pillow and climbing up the playscape and going down the slides. He finally asked to go to the train table located at the bottom of the playscape and had to play there of course. He and Daddy also went up the big inflatable slide. Shortly thereafter, Daddy left for a little bit to go meet with Nonna who had just driven in from San Antonio.
After the allotted time, it was time to go inside the room to eat. Andrew ate the pizza fairly well and was ready for cake. Poor thing just thought everything should happen according to his schedule. But he managed to wait until the cake was served. And then, he didn't even eat too much of it.
One funny thing Andrew did at the party was while we were eating. I asked Quinn to smile so I could take a picture of him. Andrew said he wanted to take a picture with Quinn and ran over next to him while I took the shot. And then later when the Giffords was trying to take a family picture, again Andrew ran over to take pictures. Too bad he didn't understand the concept of their family pictures. But it was still cute and gave us a good chuckle nonetheless! Then, it was time to say our goodbyes and head home to see Daddy and Nonna.
We had a wonderful time and were so happy that we could join in the celebration. Happy 3rd Birthday, Quinn!!! Hope it was the best one yet!
