We woke up this morning and let Andrew find his Easter basket from the Easter bunny. He went straight for the Gordon train!! Everything else did not compare (until later after the initial excitement of Gordon wore off). He also opened his gift from Nonna, an alphabet crab set to match the ducks from yesterday. Both cute and educational...got to love it.
Then, we all ate a delicious french toast and kolache breakfast compliments of Nonna. Before we knew it, it was time to get ready for 10am mass. We wanted to leave a little early due to the Easter crowds. Luckily, it didn't take too long to get ready and we were out the door in record time. And luckily when we arrived at church, there were some spots left available including a few aisles seats which I prefer in case I have to make a quick exit. The church filled quickly and people had to stand even.
Unfortunately, I have to report that Andrew didn't do as well as previous times. He was wanting to play and couldn't wait to go play in the park outside (the park can be a blessing and a curse). But I took him out of the church before he got any louder. When we got outside, he pointed to the park and kept asking for it. But I didn't take him immediately over there because I didn't want him to think he got to go there because he was causing a ruckus in church. So, we waited like 10 minutes and then walked over. Andrew had fun following a little girl going down slides with her. It was quite sweet. Around 11am, I noticed more people exiting the church and figured communion was probably taking place so we headed back to go wait for Daddy and Nonna. Well, I was off. There were both Communion and Baptism ceremonies that took place and mass ended up being almost an hour and a half long.
Later, when people start exiting the church with more frequency, I notice that many kids are taking eggs as they leave. I figure that something might be up. Sure enough, the Father said that the kids could pick up a few eggs on their way out. We let Andrew grab a few and headed for the parking lot. Andrew of course wanted to open his eggs right away and eat one of his goodies.
Not much of a hunt, but oh well. So, both organized hunts were kind of a bust, but that's life, right!? I am glad we had the three informal ones. Next year, we will definitely have to make sure to get Andrew to one of the more organized ones.
We went to Cafe Rustika for brunch and then headed home to put Andrew down for his nap. Papa and Ngoai came over for Easter dinner. Mommy made prime rib, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. Not too shabby. I was totally nervous about the prime rib, but luckily, it came out ok. Whew!! Ngoai even liked it and she's not a huge beef eater!!
The rest of the evening was spent just hanging out with the family. Andrew had fun with everyone. He was sad when everyone left and it was just the three of us again. It was a great day! Thanks to Nonna, Papa, and Ngoai for making it extra special. Thanks again to Nonna again for coming in this weekend and everything you do! We love you all very much!
