San Antonio

Nonna's close friends from Chicago, Auntie Flo and Uncle Bill, were going in San Antonio for an insurance company convention, so we drove into town to see them this past weekend.

On Friday, Andrew had taken a nap from 5pm-7pm (I guess he was really tired from the visit with the Mahers). After he woke up, we finished packing and got in the car. Along the way, we stopped at a Toys R Us in Katy to buy a Thomas Take Along set to bring to Nonna's house and McDonald's for some dinner. Andrew fell asleep around 9pm; and we got into town around 11:30pm. Andrew woke up for just a bit, but luckily, went back to sleep shortly thereafter.

Saturday morning, we met Aunt Janine, Stephanie, and Thomas for breakfast at a nearby Mexican restaurant so we could get breakfast tacos. Andrew ate a pretty good meal of ham, eggs, and pancakes. Yes, he is finally eating some eggs (thanks to some ketchup). After breakfast, the Gonzaleses came over Nonna's house to visit some more. Daddy got a taste of the past helping Stephanie with some math homework. I tried to help Thomas a bit with some English homework, but needed to put Andrew down for his nap.

Later that afternoon, we headed downtown to meet Flo and Bill at their hotel. Stephanie came along for the ride with us, which Andrew was very happy about. He loves his cousins so much! We had such a great visit with Flo and Bill. Andrew took quickly to them both even before they gave him a stuffed dog and one of their pamplets with a train on it. We even went down to the Riverwalk to see the boats--Andrew was giddy! Then, it was time to leave as Flo and Bill had to get back to their convention.

We drove straight up back to North San Antonio to Thomas's flag football game. We were a little late getting there as we got lost; and I was sad that we missed his touchdown pass. But at least we got to see a little of it. After the game, we headed home to eat dinner and watch the UT game. Andrew took a bath and played with his trains and other toys and then went to bed. Thankfully, the Horns beat the Red Raiders!! Texas! Texas! Yee Haw!!

Sunday morning, Andrew woke up around 7:30am, but Daddy wasn't ready to get up (he wasn't feeling all that great). While Nonna cooked breakfast, I took Andrew to play bubbles outside, which he is back into. After breakfast, Daddy and Nonna headed to church while Andrew and I stayed back so Andrew could take his nap. Then, we headed for Alamo Cafe for lunch--one of our favorites there is the tortilla soup. Andrew didn't eat that great, but did enjoy all the water fountains there. After lunch, we drove to a park to let Andrew play a bit. He had a great time on the slides going down by himself.

Afterwards, we packed up our things and headed to Aunt Janine's house to visit before we drove back to Houston. Andrew loved being with the Gonzaleses and Bandit--running around and playing with everyone. He even had a bit of their steak dinner. Andrew isn't shy about signing to eat when he sees food whether or not he really wants to eat. By then, it was getting late so we got in the car and started our drive back. Andrew was very good in the car and was asleep most of the way.

It was a crazy fast weekend. I don't know where the time went!! Of course, we didn't get to see everyone that we wanted to see or do everything that we wanted to do. Maybe next time? Thanks to Nonna for having us and thanks for the Gonzaleses for hanging out with us! And thanks to Auntie Flo and Uncle Bill for taking some time out of their busy schedule to see us. It was so wonderful seeing you guys!
