Friday, while we were down in League City, Ngoai gave Andrew his first backpack--a Spiderman backpack that she had found on sale (of course). Well, Andrew quickly took to it rolling it around the house. He learned amazingly fast how to maneuver it around and to switch hands when necessary.
But by Saturday, he had become quite attached to it and we learned it firsthand. He wanted to take it into the zoo with us, but we persuaded him otherwise. I think he was so excited to see the animals, he didn't put up a fight. But as we ran errands afterwards, he kept wanting to take it with him; and we let him have at seeing what he would do. It was a hoot watching him roll it around some of the stores including Best Buy. Some people smiled at him and his backpack. They may have thought him cute or us crazy for allowing him to do it, but no matter. Our little boy was happy; and it wasn't too inconvenient letting him have it while we were out and about. We figure as parents that we have to choose our battles; and this wasn't one that we chose to fight.
Andrew even wanted to take it for a walk around the neighborhood this evening with Daddy. I think he loves the fact that he has his own bag like Mommy's purse or Mommy's or Daddy's backpack. He even learned to say "ba pa" in less than five minutes of working on it with him. Makes me think ahead to when Andrew will be taking his backpack to school. Eeekkk!?
Here are some pictures of Andrew with his "ba pa" from Friday and today at Best Buy.
