Anh had texted me about hanging out today. We talked about the Children's Museum and the zoo, but we decided that we would go ride the Hermann Park train since both boys hadn't ridden it in a while and they adore it. We even talked about how the train was the first time we had seen each other with kids and talked about getting together for play dates. That was the start of a beautiful friendship!!
It wasn't raining when we had decided on riding the train, but it started to sprinkle just a tad as we drove up!! The train was still running so we bought an all day pass and rode the train twice. Afterwards, Josh said he wanted to come to our house to play trains. Sounded like a great plan as any to Anh and me so that's what we did.
The boys played really well together. There were some instances of competitiveness, but we resolved it by telling the boys they could take turns with the trains. They would get to play with it for five minutes and then after which, they would have to give it up. And it worked like a charm. Sometimes, these kids can be reasoned with! Hooray!!
But in all seriousness, I love that Andrew is growing up and learning how to play with his friends and just along side them. And at times, he can be somewhat agreeable to sharing; and then, there are some other times where he is offering to share. Of course, there are those other times where he still swipes or doesn't want to share putting up a fight. At least now, sometimes, we can reason with him to share. He still has a lot to learn in the world of playing with others, but there is definite progress and growth.
I also love that Andrew is really starting to form real bonds with other kids. He really seems to like his little group of friends and their moms (and some of the dads). It's so sweet when he asks for one of his little friends as if he misses them.
