Today was our first day in Ohio visiting Uncle Rick, Aunt Anh Thu, Cara, Emma, and Brennan. We arrived late last night. Andrew did pretty well on the flight...could have been better, but I also know he could have been much worse. So, this mom is content with his behavior. He was so excited when we got to our gate looking out the window seeing the planes and trucks. Then when we were seated on the plane, he loved looking out the window of the plane too. He was just so giddy. Andrew played around for most of the flight especially with the tray table. He finally fell asleep at 9:30pm (with a short 45 mins left in our flight--our flight took off at 7:45pm CDT and was scheduled to land at 11:15pm EDT).
Anyhow, Aunt Anh Thu was there to pick us up while the kids were supposedly asleep at home and a sitter. Brennan and Cara were awake or were asleep, but awoke when we got there. Then, Emma was awoken shortly after. All the kids seemed excited to see us especially A.J. as they call him. Andrew was excited by the new people (or rather newer faces or unfamiliar ones since he hadn't seen them since Christmas) and excited by the new surroundings, especially Brennan's toys. He immediately started playing with B's trucks! After a while, we finally all went to bed.
This morning, Anh Thu took Brennan to school then went on some errands while the girls, Ngoai, Andrew, and I took a walk around the neighborhood. We walked down to their pond and fed the ducks. Andrew tried to go down to them and laughed at them. Afterwards, we stopped by the playground for a bit. Then, Aunt Anh Thu came by the house to pick us up. We all went to pick up B from his last day of school. Next, we went to Chuck E Cheese's. We haven't taken Andrew there yet, but he had a blast with all the games. I think he liked all the colors and lights. Funniest thing was that he tried to play skee ball with us. First, he tried to walk up the game and then tried to throw the ball.
Afterwards, we went to Cara's ballet recital rehearsal. I wasn't sure how Andrew was going to react to the show, but he surprised me. When the lights went out, he started to laugh. Then, when the girls began dancing to the music, he laughed some more. But unfortunately, that didn't last too long as he started to fuss; and I had to take him out.
Then, it was onto to Cara’s gymnastics meet. She did very well even though I did not get to see it since I was mainly playing with Andrew and Brennan. Brennan was terrific playing cars, but Andrew wanted to run around. So, I took him out of the room and luckily found a train table that occupied both boys for a long time. We went back in time for the awards ceremony to see Cara receive a first, second, third, and fourth place ribbon the four events!! Thankfully, it was time to go home to call it a day!!!
