This afternoon, Albert, Andrew and I went to LEGOLAND Discovery Center. I already knew it wasn't going to be as good as the one in San Diego, but we thought it would be fun to check out and could be a trial run before we take Andrew the bigger one.
We went around the area and made stops wherever we fancied. Andrew liked looking at the big constructs they had all around. We walked over to MINILAND where they had so many LEGO builds. They had a lot of the Dallas attractions like the State Fair, Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Cowboy Stadium, DFW Airport, and even Grapevine Mills Mall (where LEGOLAND is located).
One thing I wanted to see for sure was the Forest Ranger Pursuit where they had police trucks that kids could drive. Andrew made the minimum age of four years old and barely made the minimum height at forty inches. He was definitely the smallest one out there. As he waited, he was getting more hesitant and nervous. A few times, he told me he didn't want to go. But I told him that it would be really fun and just to try it and that he could get off if he didn't like it. They finally let the kids in to get on their trucks. Andrew may have been the last one to find one and it was because one of the employees, Sean, helped him. Sean was also nice enough to guide Andrew for a couple of laps helping him getting the hang of driving the truck. Soon, Andrew was comfortable and having fun and not needing anymore assistance. Whew!! I was so proud of him for sticking with it; and after, he said he had a lot of fun.
After, we walked around some more and did some of the hands-on things like build our own cars at LEGO Racers: Build & Test and then at DUPLO Village. Next, we let Andrew play at the LEGO City Play Zone & Fire Academy. Our last stop was the LEGO Shop. Andrew loved perusing the toys and telling me which sets he didn't have yet and which ones he wanted. We picked up a safari set and Batmobile for him and a little keychain for Lilian.
We had a good time and I am glad we came. Now, Andrew and I are totally ready to hit up the one in San Diego!!
