We were released from the hospital yesterday late morning. Andrew was very good for his first car ride. James and I didn't know what to expect. Well, we expected the worse...an inconsolable baby crying the whole way. But fortunately, we only live less than 10 mins away from the hospital so it wouldn't have been that bad.
James and I spent the day trying to clean up, nap while we could, and adjust with life at home with baby. My mom was driving up later in the afternoon with my cousin who is visiting from Los Angeles and his daughter. My dad was going to drive to our place after work; and Anh Tuan was on his way in from Austin. Mom was going to make dinner for us all. Our first dinner party!? Ha ha!!
I am happy to report that Andrew is doing well. He does what all newborns do...just sleeps, nurses, pees, and poops. He is such a good baby and doesn't cry too much. Typically, the only times he may cry is when he is getting his diaper changed or when he is hungry. He does like his pacifier quite a bit already.
With that said, Andrew's first night at home was a little rougher than normal. We don't know if he has his days and nights mixed up, was having trouble adjusting to being at home, or was just bothered by gas. I personally think the latter. I will let you guys know how the little guy does tonight.
But I wanted to quickly say thanks to some people. Thank you to the entire staff of The Woman's Hospital of Texas, especially to Andrew's and my nurses. They were amazing with the quality of care and attention. I highly recommend this as the place to give birth (with the exception of one nurse though). Thank you to everyone who came by the hospital to visit us. It was nice seeing familiar faces and seeing you meet our son.
Of course, we send our deepest thank you to our parents. Thank you Doris, Mom, and Dad for all your continued love and support, especially the last few days. We are so lucky that you are Andrew's grandparents. And to everyone, thank you for all the gifts and well wishes. We are so very blessed and love you all!!
