Last night, we rang in the new year with our friends, the Khans. They graciously invited us to a party at their new hotel in Channelview, which is about twenty minutes east of our house off I-10.
Originally, we had planned to drop off Andrew at my folks' house and have a date night. But when Sabrina invited us to the party, we decided to change our plans. It sounded like lots of fun and seriously, how many times would we be invited to a kid-friendly party on New Years?
Sabrina and Amir went all out as always with hosting a fantastic party. They had a couple doing face painting, balloon animals, and a sing-along for the kids. Andrew picked out a sword for his balloon, and a cake for his hand painting.
But mainly, Andrew just wanted to run around with Liya and Tessa and all the other kids. He even followed them on the dance floor and danced a bit. Most of his dance moves were more like running around the dance floor.
We thought about leaving around 11 o'clock, but Andrew was still hanging on like a champ so decided to stay a little longer to see if he could make it until midnight. He was getting tired. He even asked me when we we're going home and why we stayed at the party so long. Things I never thought I would hear out of his mouth.
But twelve o'clock quickly came; and we toasted champagne and welcomed in the New Year. We left shortly thereafter. It was such a great time.
We had thought about staying the night, but James really didn't want to as he never sleeps that well in a hotel bed and hadn't been sleeping well to begin with.
Anyways, we had a wonderful time. It was an awesome way to ring in the New Year!! We are so thankful for our great friends for inviting us to celebrate with them.
Happy New Years!!
