Another month has come and gone and Andrew is now one month away from his fourth birthday!!
Some things we hear from our almost four year old include that he will do bad things "never again" or for the right things "do it everyday". He has even told me, "Don't yell at me!" when I am reprimanding him.
A while back, Andrew had an accident peeing in his pants. He told his dad, "Don't tell Mom!" I couldn't believe it. Already trying to hiding things from Mommy. But Daddy told him to tell me and he did without fussing. But his accidents are too frequent and he is doing pretty good about being dry at night, but we still put pull ups on him just in case.
Andrew loves to ride his new bicycle. I think he actually may ask to ride it everyday. He is really getting the hang of it and his pedaling is improving quickly. He can turn very sharp turns...sometimes, I think he is going to hit our neighbors' garage door, but turns at the very last second and misses it. He loves riding bikes with Emily around the courtyard. I am so proud of the way he's taking to bike riding.
He also likes to play
Cars 2 dominoes. He doesn't get too competitive about winning, which is good. Andrew is still very big into LEGOs. He probably plays LEGOs just about everyday. Drew still builds trains, trucks, and buildings, but is getting more elaborate in his building.
Andrew is into pirates and superheroes. He still loves to pretend to be a pirate and his ship is our couch. And thanks to Mr. Sanchez, Andrew is getting more into superheroes. His favorites so far are Superman, Spiderman, and Batman.
He has been watching
Cars 2 and
Tangled on the iPad a lot. He could watch them everyday if we let him. His favorite part of
Tangled is the
I Have a Dream scene. He laughs hysterically. Andrew has been watching
Sid the Science Kid,
WordWorld, and
Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. It cracks me up that he is watching
Mister Roger having watched that myself when I was little. He loves the trolley mostly.
Andrew still enjoys movie night complete with popcorn. He will even draw up his own ticket. Recently, he has watched
WALL-E and
The Incredibles.
We have a carnivore on our hands. He is really big into eating meat especially kalbi (Korean short ribs), thit nuong (Vietnamese chargrilled pork), and Mongolian Beef from Pei Wei. One time, I ordered the Mongolian Beef to share and he ate all but two pieces of the meat. He doesn't eat much rice, but we order it with broccoli and he will eat that.
He also has moved onto Chick Fil A sandwiches, but still orders nuggets sporadically. Andrew always reminds me to order his without pickles. He still likes grilled cheese sandwiches.
For breakfast, Andrew has been eating lots of Toaster Strudel lately because it comes with a green frosting for the holiday season. Also, Andrew has been more into the Horizon milk boxes and loves all the flavors (vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate).
He is still singing
Jingle Bells even though Christmas is over. Andrew also loves the
Cars and
Cars 2 soundtracks especially
Real Gone,
Life is a Highway, and
You Might Think.
Andrew is more into his upcoming activities. He asks about when he will play soccer again. And he is stoked about his upcoming birthday and birthday party. We have decided on a Cars 2 party and he can't wait. He's pretty funny and asks "when Christmas be again?"
And Andrew is enjoying gymnastics even more now and adores his new coach, Cortney. Coach Cortney runs a tight ship and works the boys really hard, but he is a lot of fun.
In terms of independence, we are still trying to get Andrew to work on dressing himself. He is able to put on his shirts, pants, and underwear (but no buttons or snaps). We are working on him putting on his own socks now. In addition, he is enjoying brushing his teeth more that we got him a Thomas spin toothbrush.
And lately, he is skipping more and more naps, but he knows he has to go to bed early.
He is doing very well with morning drop off at school with Ms. Edgett on Mondays. We have talked to him about starting to do it twice a week (one day would be without Ms. Edgett) when he's four.
Nothing has changed too much in terms of Andrew's grieving. He will still say at different times "I miss Matthew" and that "Matthew in Heaven". And we are hearing a lot more questions about "when we have a new baby?" We just tell him we have to wait to see what the doctors say about us having another baby.
