The Fire Station

After Daddy got home, we packed up the car and said goodbye to Uncle Anh Tuan. We then drove down to Uncle John's fire station before we headed home to Houston. We had been talking to Andrew about possibly going to Uncle Johnny's fire station the whole week and he was so excited about it. We knew he would more into it than the last time we went since he is so obsessed with them now.

Uncle John showed Andrew the ladder unit first complete with Uncle John's seat up front and his uniform. Andrew was too scared to put any of it on though. And he was too scared to let Uncle John take him up to sit in the truck so Daddy had to.

Shortly thereafter, Aunt Sharon arrived with Peter and Kathryn at the fire station so they could see us before we left. Of course, the kids wanted to climb up the trucks too; and of course, Andrew wanted to go follow them. It was really cute seeing them all up there!!

Andrew even got to sit in the cab and play around with the headphones. He didn't want to put them on his head either. I don't know why he was so tentative, but I guess it wasn't a bad thing. I wouldn't want him too crazy on the trucks. I would prefer him to be a little timid as opposed to wild, that's for sure!!

We then headed back inside for some lunch. Then, it was time to say goodbye and hit the road. Andrew fell asleep in the car and napped well. He woke up and was pretty good the rest of the ride home thankfully. It also helped that we told him Ngoai and Papa would be there when we got home. They had come up to babysit Andrew while Daddy and Mommy attend Parent Orientation at school.

The orientation was good. A little on the long side, but I understand. I just hate being away from Andrew for too long. But it was nice to meet people and hear them talk about the upcoming school year. We had an orientation just for the new parents and then immediately after, one for all the parents. After, we broke out into our classes and got a chance to talk more with the teachers and ask any other questions we might have. It gave us a better idea of how the school year was going to go. And for me, it really started to dawn on me that Andrew is going to school in a few days. I told James tonight that I was starting to feel a little anxious and was unsure if I would be able to go through with it. Eek!!

When we got home after 9pm, Andrew was still awake and playing with Ngoai and Papa. They said he was really good and didn't cry or fuss at all. And Andrew even peed in the potty when Ngoai took him for his bath!

To end tonight, a very sincere thank you to everyone for a wonderful weekend: Uncle Anh Tuan for letting us invade his house; Uncle John and his family for spending time with us and a very special trip to the fire station; Granddad for dinner on Saturday night; Nonna for coming up to hang with us; and Ngoai and Papa for watching Andrew. We appreciate everything you all do for us and love you very much!
